A complete busway system is the product of precision design and manufacturing. Its core structure includes the following parts:
Shell: Usually made of high-quality aluminum alloy or galvanized steel plate, it provides mechanical protection, supports conductors and forms a heat dissipation surface. The housing is designed with high strength to withstand external mechanical impact, and its surface treatment (e.g. spray coating) provides corrosion resistance. The airtightness of the shell enables it to reach IP54 or higher protection levels, making it dustproof and waterproof.
Conductor: The core conductive component of the system is a row of conductors with a rectangular cross-section made of high-purity electrolytic copper or aluminum. Copper conductors are extremely conductive, while aluminum conductors are lightweight and low-cost. The surface of the conductor is usually tin-plated or silver-plated to enhance oxidation resistance and contact performance. The conductors are arranged in parallel according to phases (such as A/B/C/N/PE) and are reliably separated by insulating materials.
Insulating material: The key material wrapped around the conductor or filled between the conductors, usually polyester film, polytetrafluoroethylene or high-grade flame-retardant plastic. Its main function is to ensure reliable electrical insulation between phases and ground to prevent short circuits. High-quality insulation materials have high dielectric strength, excellent heat resistance (up to Class B, F or higher), flame retardant self-extinguishing and low smoke and halogen-free properties.
Internal structural parts: including insulating brackets, partitions, etc. used to support and fix conductors. They ensure precise fixation of conductor positions, maintain stable electrical clearances and creepage distances, and provide adequate dynamic and thermal stability support in the event of a short circuit.
Connection system: The core of realizing electrical and mechanical connections between bus duct units. Usually includes special connectors, insulating partitions, high-strength bolts, etc. The connector contains a contact surface that matches the conductor, and specific pressure is applied through the bolt to ensure low contact resistance and reliable connection. The advanced connection design allows for compensation of slight alignment errors between units and absorption of displacement due to thermal expansion and contraction.
Standard units and functional accessories: Bus ducts are usually produced in the form of linear segment units of standard length (such as 3 meters or 6 meters). In addition, it also includes various functional accessories, such as start-end inlet boxes, terminal covers, L-shaped/T-shaped/Z-shaped elbows, cross distribution boxes, expansion joints, mounting brackets, plug-in boxes, etc. The plug-in box is particularly critical. It is equipped with a circuit breaker or fuse, which can draw power from the designated plug-in interface of the trunk line when it is charged, so as to achieve fast and safe load connection.
