In 2020, the operating revenue of China's robotics industry exceeded 100 billion yuan for the first time. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the output of industrial robots increased from 72,000 units to 212,000 units, with an average annual growth rate of 31%. In terms of technology and products, breakthroughs in key technologies and components such as precision reducers, high-performance servo drive systems, intelligent controllers, and intelligent integrated joints have accelerated, and innovative achievements have emerged continuously. The overall performance of the robots has been greatly improved, their functions have become richer, and product quality has been continuously optimized. Industry applications are also expanding in depth. For example, industrial robots have been widely used in 52 major industry categories and 143 sub-categories, including automobiles, electronics, metallurgy, light industry, petrochemicals, and pharmaceuticals. On September 9, 2025, the State Council Information Office held a press conference where Li Lecheng, Minister of Industry and Information Technology, and others introduced the "report card" of my country's industrial and information technology development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, in which the newly installed industrial robot volume accounted for more than 50% of the global total. On October 13, 2025, the State Council Information Office held a press conference. Wang Jun, Deputy Director of the General Administration of Customs, stated that my country's industrial robot exports increased by 54.9% in the first three quarters of 2025.
Entering 2026, the export growth momentum remained strong. In April 2026 alone, the export volume of industrial robots exceeded 25,000 units, a year-on-year increase of nearly 90%. Among them, mobile robots demonstrated strong competitiveness, with their export order share rapidly climbing from 25.87% in 2022 to 37.12% in 2024, and exceeding 40% in 2025. Major export destinations include e-commerce, retail, and third-party logistics industries in Europe, America, and the Asia-Pacific region, as well as emerging markets such as Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
